Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday addressed a rally in Jharkhand’s Bishrampur assembly constituency and said that the Modi government has fulfilled the dream of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee by revoking Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
“In 1952, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor to the BJP) had said that there cannot be two Constitutions, two prime ministers and two flags in one country. We have fulfilled his dream and lived up to the promise made in our poll manifesto,” he said.
“Without any delay, we abrogated Article 370 in Jammu andKashmir, when we got clear majority in Parliament. Now there'll not be two Constitutions in India, there'll be no different flag for Jammu and Kashmir.There'll be only one PM in our country,” he added.
Rajnath also spoke about the Supreme Court’s verdict in theAyodhya land case and said that no power on Earth could get in the way ofconstruction of a ‘grand’ Ram temple in Ayodhya.
“A grand Ram temple will be built in Ayodhya and no power inthe world can stop that from happening. The path for construction of the templehas been cleared by the Supreme Court,” said Rajnath amid ‘Jai Shree Ram’slogans.
The Defence Minister also asserted that the Rafale fighterjets, acquired by the country from France, would destroy terror camps acrossthe border.
The Assembly elections in Jharkhand will be held in fivephases starting November 30 while the results will be declared on December 23.The voting dates for the five phases are November 30, December 7, December 12,December 16 and December 20.
Bishrampur goes to polls during the first phase on November30. The saffron party has fielded sitting MLA and the state's health minister,Ramchandra Chandravanshi, from the seat.
